With spring in full swing and the Melbourne Cup fast approaching, it’s time to get on track and get ready for the racing season. Get your beauty and health routine on ‘track’ and race to the finish line a winner; here are our pearls of wisdom for looking and feeling your finest!

TIP #1: Bronze it up!

Invest in a good tan. Why? Summer hasn’t quite kicked in yet so a quick spray tan will give you a perfect glow to compliment your race day outfit. Widely available, a good spray tan is a safe way to add some bronze to your skin-tone. Be sure to invest in a good one, you don’t want streaks come race-day. If you run out of time, use a gradual tanning lotion at home; this will ensure you don’t make any mistakes and you can still achieve a decent, yet subtle colour the day before! Also, try MAC Face & Body Foundation (, a favourite of ours for covering up any skin blemishes, what’s more its waterproof, so won’t budge from your skin on to your outfit: apply to legs and décolletage to give skin a beautiful sheen.

TIP #2: Beauty Buff

Think ahead. A day at the races is going to be a long day, so make sure you’re well prepared in the beauty department. Prepare a few essential items in your handbag (like blotting papers, a long-wear lipstick, and a mini perfume).  The most successful makeup looks for race days are those that are simple and refined. Wear makeup that complements your dress and head-piece, be it glamorous or spring-fresh. It your head piece is quite intricate, go for softer palette shades, if your outfit is a block colour, why not try a stand-out, statement lip?  Stiletto savvy ladies use gel cushions in their heels to help relieve pressure from the balls of your feet; trust us, they make wearing high heels as comfy as wearing sandals. Try Scholl Party Feet (Extra Slim):

TIP #3: Be Bubbly, but don’t bubble over!

As tempting as it is to let loose, hatch a plan to not to drink too much. Yes, race days are about having fun and letting your hair down, however, what may seem good at the time could leave you in a world of pain and regret the next day! A few too many champagnes might see you betting too hard, losing sight of your weight-loss goals or tripping over your stilettos? NOT a good look to accompany your perfect outfit! Our tip is to stay ahead of the game: alternate between alcohol and a glass of water to keep a ‘tab’ on your consumption. White wine spritzers are also a wise option to reduce your intake!
